Deep regret the recent death of their former Governor, Sir Arthur Kennedy, on his voyage from Australia to England.

The ... now forward a report, extracted from the local "Daily Press" of July 16, of the Public Meeting held at the City Hall on the 14th instant, to arrange for a monument in memory of Sir Arthur Kennedy. It will be seen that it was unanimously determined to erect in his honour in this City a bronze statue on a granite pedestal. The meeting was presided over by the Chief Justice, (the Honourable George Phillippo), and was attended by the principal Government Officers, and by the leading European, Chinese, and Indian residents.

Much sympathy is expressed here with Miss Kennedy, who was her father's affectionate companion for many years in both Hong Kong, and in Queensland; and who, like him, was universally liked and respected in this Colony.
